How to use garlic

I just use fresh garlic from the store and dice it up and add it to some RODI water. I then soak my dried seaweed in it for a little while and add it to the tank for the fish to eat, minced garlic, seaweed and water. The fish seem to like it alot.

No actually I read an article from reef central that explains garlic in detail and also an experiment done with garlic from a marine biologist. I would not feed garlic, its not a proven fact that fish like garlic.I will try to find the article and post it here for you.

Garlic has been said to be beneficial against ick and some parasites. I do beleive this to be true. The parasites are said to be repulsed by the taste of the garlic in the blood of the fish and let go of the host. I use "garlic guard" as a prophelactic measure by mixing it in with the food.

Formula One makes a sinking pellet that has garlic. While I don't use pellet too much because of the phosphate issue, I do feed it if I have a new addition to the tank.

You should be quarantining your new fish to be sure they don't have ich. But just as a prophylactic, it's a good thing. Garlic contains some volatiles that, at least in humans, can exude through the skin: there is a case of pottery workers in central France who were found to do so because of a genetic quirk [their fingers were staining the pottery black]. So it's uncertain whether this happens in fish, but if it does, it could suggest a mechanism by which it could discourage the ich parasite.

I also believe garlic to be beneficial, it can help strengthen the fishes immune system.

I just let my food soak with some fresh crushed garlic.
