How you caught the Mantis in your reef?

So after a month of question i have made the determination that a Mantis Shrimp has made is home in my tank for the following reasons:

1.) Clicking
2.) Sand mounds
3.) Tunnel entrances under my LR with rubble used to block entrances
4.) piles of shells
5.) 4 missing fish

this is a nightmare for me. At least my tank is only 20g..thank the Lord.

i wanted to get advice from someone who has caught a Mantis in his/her tank. How did you do it? trap? wht kind? bait? what kind?

any help would be great

I have seen where you take a two liter bottle, cut of the bottom and place the top, opening in the top, in the bottom of your tank. Throw in a few piece of fish and wait, when it climbs in, it can't gewt out and presto, you have your mantis!!

P.S. Let me know when you catch him... I'll take him off your hands for you if you would like!!

When I found mine in some TBS LR, I found where his den was, took the rock and did a FW dip and got him easily. There is a chance for damage to the mantis though using this method since they don't take to changes in salinity very well.

dip in SW works better as it doesn't hurt the mantis. SW should be same temp/salinity as display. just dip repeatedly.

Ive never had to catch a mantis myself so I have no personal experience with the method. I stole the idea from some other guy. he had to catch two mantids and the dunking method worked beautifully for him.
