Wanted to say hello, I will be up in your guys neck of the woods, visiting family in Loudon during Thanksgiving. I would like to visit some LFS's while I'm up here and wonder if there were any recommendations? We're staying in Tellico Village so if there are any not real far, that would be great. I went over the sticky briefly, Fins & Friends isn't that far. Aquarium (creative ;) ) and Coral Reef are within reach and are close together. Any inputs is greatly appreciated!;

Check out the Coral Reef, good folks!

I'll second the Coral Reef:)

.....that and the Aquarium are really the only two in town.

It's funny that whenever we go to a different city, one of the first excursions we do is to visit the local reef store. I know when I'm in Orlando the first place I go is "Sea In The City". Marcye always has some of the coolest corals I've ever seen.

You wouldn't be interested in transporting a few frags to Knoxville would you?:bum:

(everyone's banner-happy today)

FYI Fins and Friends is no longer in business (I think it is now a pool hall or something). I just wouldn't want you making the trip to Maryville for a store that's not there (I'll hop over and try to update our list too).

I'll third Coral Reef; Aquarium is just a stone's throw away too and would complete your area Reef Shop Tour :)

Matt

I've been to a few LFS in Florida... There are some great shops down there... I haven't hit Orlando yet, but I've worn out Tampa area stores... Maybe next time I go, I'll try and get to "Sea in the City"... :)

Thanks for the warm Volunteer welcome! Yes, Florida is a great place for aquaria, and love that Sea in the City is 10mins away! Thanks for the heads up Matt, would have been funny trying to explain that one to the family. I will let you guys know my experiences at Coral Farm and Aquarium! :)

Well we had a great time in Tennesse. Went to Dollywood on Friday and took the family to Aquarium and Coral Reef on Saturday. Went to Aquarium first, pretty cool store, by any chance, was it a skating rink beforehand? They have a lot of tanks and tons of tons of dry goods and they were priced pretty competitively, some cheaper then here like the Formula 1 Angel Pellets for $4.99 but some of the fish seemed really high, a 4-5" Naso for $180 or the 5" v. lion for $120, maybe a regional thing? But they had a beautiful huge Golden Puffer. I stood back and watched him for a bit, he made the trip for me.

I think I might have caught Coral Reef on an 'off day.' Their corals seemed pretty good, love the little frag section, but they seemed out of fish and they had two tangs that were pretty badly covered in Ich. Pretty put off by that, and being unsure of their tank configuration, I only noticed the one large skimmer in the back, so not sure if it's spreading to the other fish in the adjacent tanks.

We had fun though and I got to show some of the family that never seen my tanks what 'it's all about.'
