HS Skimmers Worth the $$$$

I never had a problem with my ER of 5 yrs (Sedra pump). Always skimmed very well. What problems did you have?

I have a ASM G3 that has all the mods. That being said I will be upgrading to a H&S as soon as I can. The eheim pumps are unbeatable.

You can get a Euro-Reef with an Eheim now. Also, the ER SP4 has similar performance to an Ehiem, the SP5 beats it.

If that makes you feel better, go for it. The H&S is a very nice line of skimmers. Depending on what you are buying, you could be paying considerably more for equal and often less performance.

More performance, less performance, it really doesn't matter. When you buy a properly sized high end skimmer, you are also buying the peace of mind that it will, without a doubt, get the job done.

From the data I've seen, performance is ~ the same as an H&S or Deltec 1260 which is ~ the same as a Euro-Reef SP4, and less than a ER SP5. The main benefit is quietness.

Which part is the unproven part? The Eheim 1260 or putting a pin wheel in it? what do you think going to happen to it? How much testing do you have to do to be proven?

Lighting ballasts, bulbs, even new type of pumps need to be proven, but a pin wheel in a eheim pump seems like it been done for a good time now. It not like Euro reef has not been doing this for years and years with many model pumps. any bad ones from Euro reef that you no of?

I cant wait to get my unproven Bubble master skimmer, talk about Unproven. this one id agree with you on

data is data. how well put together is their NW 1260? Have they been in operation and considered to work well by those that have them? The product is too new to know and I am tired of gambling. I want a sure thing.

Many are happy with their ASM's yet I find that I have to tweak mine constantly. I also find that it does not perform as well as I would like and that is the main reason I want to replace my skimmer with an H&S.
