Huge Maxima, got it for $99!

Thanks reefcrazy, I am tempted to get a calcium reactor but I have blown way to much money this month on my reef addiction...I'll just keep adding CA and keep up on my weekly WC with buffered salt.

maximas *can* get up to 15", but most we see in the hobby are at most 8"...your clam is 100% squamosa...nice find for $99 anyway...just slowly acclimate to your light...looks very pale

get a doser instead.

if you do research everyone is ditching their reactors for dosing systems. I just got a Bubble Magus doser.

nice pick up btw

Just because everyone is doing it doesn't mean it's a good idea... Remember, back in the 90's everyone was using Coral Vital lol

Cheers

speak for yourself.

and nor, thats without a doubt a squamosa. good buy at that price as usually the ones that size are $125+.

before i sold mine i kept it on the sand bed. the muscle they use to close is incredibly strong and when spooked they can squirt water. had mine up top, walked up to tank to check it out and boom, had water come out of the tank...maybe 2 ft. and i got scared of my lights getting wet.

That's pretty funny!

I will keep him on the bottom. Lord knows I don't have room any where else for him.

Now on top the research for the CA issue.

I think it is gaining color...pardon the lighting change added some 420nm atinics.

Wow that thing is huge! I have a sqamosa about 10" , the colors arent as great as the fancier clams but everyone loves how big it is
