DeathMagnetic

Roger, had my mini osmolator since august .... woke up to find my 50 gallon lagoon reef tank overflowing ... 15 yr old Hawaiian lobster, pair of mated blood shrimp, pair of mated cleaner shrimp, dead.... basically all my corals everything except my purple tang perished... salinity @ 1.010

Disappointed....

That should not be possible by any manner except a siphon, it should not be able to add more than 3 minutes worth of fill which is about 3/4 gallon of water, even if the float failed. The only other scenario I could envision causing this is repeated on and off cycles from an animal moving the float but this is difficult with the cover, only some echinoderms would be able to do this.

Can you give me any more details of what happened? Here is a graphic of siphon scenarios.

Roger, definitely not a siphon.. the tank is higher than the fw reservoir. the nano is jumpered for increased water volume as the tank is 60 gallons

I unplugged the unit, did a water change, plugged the unit back in.. it went through its cycle ran for a lil bit... and stopped... everything seemed normal... I went back the next morning to make a batch of salt water and discovered the disaster...

subsequently I put the unit on another tank ( clean tank no fish / inverts ) to test and it did the same thing... it was ok... left to watch some tv came back an hour later and that tank was up to the rim ( if I had more water in the reservoir it would have overflowed also )

I am puzzled, this should not be possible, if you send me the controller we will replace it and I will test it thoroughly and try to find what may have caused this.
