Huh? My Juvenile maroon clown "hosting" with my clam??

So I put hosting in quotations because I don't even know if that's what I should be calling it... we got this adorable little Maroon clown a few weeks ago and while I do have a perfectly good anemone for him to host in, as well as many other corals that I would think he would be more likely to choose, he has been literally going INTO my clam... it scares me to death watching it, because he is so small (an inch tops), and the clam is about 5-6 inches, and all I can see is the clam getting scared or not liking the fact that he is rubbing himself all over him, and quickly closing, and that is it for my clown, however this hasn't happened, the clam is allowing all of this to go down. The clown even sleeps in it.. has anyone ever experienced this? I don't have any pics right now as my camera is broken, but I will try to get some.

It is called associating, not hosting when looking from clown perspective (anemone hosts clown => clown is associated to nem).
There are a lot of photos & stories about clowns and clams.
Seems clowns love them, sometimes to death (death of clam).

What type of clown u got and what type of anemone prepared?

Thanks!

Thanks!

The tank I was talking about has a sabe (I don't think I am spelling that right but they are the yellow bumpy looking ones) and a Juvenile Maroon clown. The maroon clown is new (had for about 3 weeks) however the anemone I have had for almost a year now. The anemone was hosting my original two clownfish (a false percula and a false percula snowflake) however I lost them to ich about 3 months back. I also have a green and orange mini maxi. Thanks for the info. I am still fairly new to the hobby and am a mom of 3 girls so I don't have a whole lot of time for research. But still love learning anything I can. I will try to check that out a bit more. Thanks!

I don't think sebae and maroons are natural hosts. Meaning it may never reside in a sebae. I don't think occellaris (false percula) are either but I've had them reside in a sebae before but it took a few months before it happened.

Maroons would be faster to jump in a bubble tip but mixing anemone species isn't advised (although plenty of people have success others get anemone war).

Maroons are notoriously rough to their hosts, be it an anemone, a clam, coral, or a mag float. I would move the clam in hope of it stopping or re-home the clown personally.

Think I am going to move the clam to my nano.

Think I am going to move the clam to my nano.

Yeah I was thinking about moving the clam into my nano. It is a 29 Gallon drilled fluval. I cant move the clown in there because there is already a very large photon clown and a davinci clown who have paired off. And I have had two Bubble tips that have hosted however I lost them both when I had to move my tank. I did actually have the bubble tip and the sabae together and they were fine. Stayed at opposite ends of the tank. But yes I think I will move the clam into the nano. I just hope if I do this that he doesn't end up messing with my new baby maxima clam.
