humidity issue's ...anyone try "Damp-Rid"?

It won't do much. I've used a kilo of anhydrous calcium chloride to keep a big dessicator before, but for a room with a fish tank it is going to be used up very rapidly. A small air conditioner or dehumidifier may be a better option long term.

Longterm I will probably put in a vent fan, but if this helps a little shorterm than I will be satisfied. If It gets humidity down a few clicks to 63-67 % that would be great.

I figure 65-70% humidity is not bad, just I would like it better around 60 %. If anyone knows what humidity they are at let me know. Thanks

4 lbs of CaCl2 (anh) can absorb about 600g of water. 75% relative humidity at 25C is around 20g of water per cubic meter. So one bucket can reduce the humidity of a pretty large volume of air. BUT and it's a big big big big but, the tank is putting humidity back into the air, and the lower the relative humidity the faster that evaporation will occur. So in a room with a fish tank, the damp-rid will reduce the humidity in the room for as long as it takes for a little more than a half a liter of evaporation. My tank does about 1ga / day. That means I would completely deplete the damp-rid in a little more than half an hour.
