guess the urchin thought the coral wanted to go on a road trip! And any advice on the algae problem? Running gfo, no phosphates, just never seems to go away!

That's hilarious! And exactly why I don't have an urchin!

Are you talking about the Cyano? It's not technically an algae it's a bacteria and it's exacerbated by light...I'm waging war with it everyday even after a three day lights out.

haha! your urchin must be my urchin's brother from another mother!

i tried the 3 days lights out for cyano, too. still had some significant spots of it so i finally bit the bullet and resorted to a dose of chemi-clean. i'm reserving judgment for another few days but it seems to have worked well. what little bit pops up, i can get with a turkey baster. the only thing that seems to have suffered is a patch of xenia that looks to be melting.

Changing your gfo medium monthly is a good idea. 1 jar gfo per 50 gallons, do not overpack your reactor: 1 jar per reactor unless you bought the 2-jar large one.

this morning. and, when something is stuck to him, it's STUCK! hopefully, the zoas will end up where i can see them. LOL

here's a pic of the algae. I have chemi clean, and algae fix. Or is lights out better? Won't effect corals for a couple days with no light?
