Hurricane Tank Prep

Thanks for the offer. We still have power back on which is a huge plus! The tree is enormous (oak tree) and with the dark and rain, we just can't see the extent of the damage, but it doesn't look good. I'll yell if we need help.

Oh man that is good that it did not take out your house or power. Keep a look out for little squirrels after you get out to access the damage if they did not drown in the flood water. Good luck to everyone we have been pretty fortunate over in Winter Springs just a little rain and wind.

Well, besides the fence, pool deck and an 80' tree to remove, I think we really lucked out. The tree missed the well pump by about a foot, the pool pump by about 5 feet and the shed by about 5 feet. Our patio is flooded as is our yard. The pond overflowed but the fish seem fine. Still really whipping around and LOTS of tree debris, but it could have been so much worse! Hope everyone else is fairing well and that this moves over us soon!

Thanks also for the squirrel alert. After I read that I went out to check and don't see any nests or babys in downed tree.

Thats good, Thanks for checking I have been stressing out with this whole storm thing not going away. I've become too attached to the poor little guys.

It's good to hear you didn't get any major damage besides the big beautiful tree.

now you're calling me a racist?

I'm not being nasty, I'm sorry you see it that way. Its just that you sure seem to mention Iraq a lot on REEF central. And between your shennanigan posts stirring up trouble with the local stores as well as some racist stuff in your myspace, I'm sorry but I find it distasteful. I'm sure there are many forums and support groups out there who would love to talk with you about your experiences, but I was hoping to keep this thread more about tanks and hurricane prep - which if you look at all the damage that has been done on the coast I hope a lot of people were able to get their tanks prepped in time. We're very fortunate it didn't hit very hard here in Orlando.

So trying to keep this most more on track with the themes of reefs, did everyone's tank hold up okay?

you obviously don't know me very well!

of course, you always have the right not to visit my myspace page.......but thanks for checking it out! that makes me feel important!

Here in Clermont, no power outages at all. Lights never flickered at all. At least on this end of town.
In fact, today is the worst weather we have seen here since this storm approached central florida.

Glad to here that Wingnut! Still storming here in Geneva. Here are a couple pics of the downed tree in the backyard I was able to snap between gusts and drops:

Hopefully the worst is behind us!

holy crap! Hopefully the rain will stop tomorrow and you can start cleaning up!

I know some iron workers that own a crane that live out that way should you need someone to come out and yank that thing off your pool, marcye!

Thanks all for the help offers. The tree removal will be a bit tricky due to size and weight, but at least no houses were hit by it so that's a plus! We didn't lose power for any length of time...just on and off so the tanks came through just fine. It's hard to really understand how big that tree is from the pics. Again, thanks for the offers of help Christie and Donovan. We have some tree companies coming out this afternoon so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully the rain will stop today as I think we're all feeling pretty water logged!

David and I are doing well. We need to look over the porch roof when we dry out but it is only dripping inside. I cannot remember the last time I saw'll the sun! The power went out once for 45 minutes. Of course, David did not take any chances and the generator went on after about 15 min. At least we know that everything important runs with no problem. I now have a short store list for a few things we will need to prep for the next storm (hopefully one that is years away). We need to get a Carbon Monoxide Detector , I am glad the power came back on because I would not been able to sleep. We put the generator outside in area that gets alot of air flow, but in the middle of the storm the wind was blowing straight into the back corner of the house and then inside through the crack for the cords and not away as it did in the dry run...

There is no major flooding that I know of but Deltona's roads are full and our empty lakes are much higher. I hope everyone dries out soon!

AMEN to that!!!

I totally agree with FF..I just read this and went holy crap and actually felt a little sick to my stomach. I never post on here but, I had to on this one. That was REALLY harsh and unprovoked. He was one of OUR SOLDIERS, he went through some serious life changing stuff there, things alot of us cant even imagine, I've talked to him a little about it. He was happy and proud to serve and felt like WE really helped in Iraq...and I have not seen his myspace but, if I didnt like it I wouldnt look at it again, not call him out on something I know nothing about in front of a bunch of people. Donavan thankyou for serving and as far as I am conserned you can talk about Iraq all you want You earned it!!!!

Juice is been to Iraq:confused:  your are the man Juice, don't let her put you down ;) we all know she's always stirring things up:rolleye1: .
