Huskerreef's Lagoon RIP, on to the next build

glad you got everything running so quickly. It must have been nerve racking having all your corals and fish in those tubs. Can't wait to check it out sometime too!

Wow that went really fast! What do you think of the tank? I was thinking about going with a glass A.G.E., but now I think I want to go with something that is cheaper and maybe acrylic.

I really like it, this is the third acrylic Midwest has done for me and they have always been great to work with. I had a 240 glasscages and it cracked after a year and flooded my wood floors and house.

Wow looks great. I remember your lagoon on another board and I haven't heard anything in a while. Seems like you have been going through alot but all turned out well.

here are a few more pics. need to caulk and install a couple doors on the front for access. Also should get my 4 vortechs tommorrow for a total of 5 for flow

Hello Jim, can you please share with us about the lighting setup? Your sump is only 120g or you have something else connect to it? Your tank look great especially with the 54" wide :D. I have such a hard time getting my tank onto the stand last weekend even tho its only 96x48x24.

I run 2 400W MH 14k on a moving light bar. Only use the 110 sump and it works great. Basically the 240 drains into the 620 and the 620 into the 110 sump and pumped back upstairs to the 240. I also have a tee in the return line to pump water into the skimmer. I will post some sump and lights pics soon

Thanks Jim. I thought you are running 1000w MH because it cover the tank pretty well. Looking forward for more pictures of your setup.

do you notice much shadowing with the moving light bar? do the lights move together or independently?

they move together and shadowing is really minimal maybe a little on the ends. Total travel distance is about 18". The corals look great and my electric bill is not as high:)

how did your livestock survive the holding pens and move?

is the space under the tank filled with a wooden stand?

do you have access under the tank?

where is all the equipment?

more work now with another tank to clean eh? viewable on how many sides?

pictures please.

Carl

look really good man , job well done love the brick youuuuu kept there from the lagoon. your like me gether DONE quick and fast then you can't complain about it.

lol

Great job. You really get a feel for just how big it is when you see that 120 setting on the stand :). When I seen this thread the first time, My first thought was wow he is going to tear down all that stone already.. Glad you could reuse it with the new tank. Lighting a 620 with only two 400 watters really shows you what light movers can do! Seems a little wide for only two fixtures side by side, But I guess if you place the rocks and corals right you can make it work.

-Unfortunetly I lost all the fish that came out of the lagoon, I did manage to save the corals and clams.
-Yes the underside is filled with the stand
-the equipment is behind the new set up.
-Viewable on 2 sides

With the loss of all the fish from the lagoon I decided to go with lots of smaller fish, mainly wrasses, in the new set up. I have battled some heat issues and tried everything to cool things off. I was running 83-84.6 with multiple fans not helping a bit. Broke down last week and added a 1/2hp chiller and now running a cool 79 consistantly. I really enjoy this tank a lot more than the lagoon, mainly because of the viewing of the corals and fish is a lot better.
