Anyone have any idea how many cups of salt per gallon of ro/di to get a salinity of 1.026/35ppt? Juat bought a box from BRS and will be starting tank soon.
I just got mine as well, I was going to start with 1/2 cup per gallon and see where that landed me. I've still got some of my old salt so I haven't mixed any up yet.
Thats a good starting point! So is there no one on here that has hw-marinemix reefer salt that mixes their salt to 1.026/35ppt? I just find it frustrating that there is nothing online about this or anything. I wouldn't have posted this thread otherwise so please help any feedback would be appreciated! First time reefer here please help!
I use 1/2 cup per gallon and it always comes out to 1.026. I've never had to adjust. Maybe the variable people see is how accurate the cup measurement is.
I mix 30 gallons at a time and use a four cup measuring cup filled three times and then once to the 3 cup mark. I alway's tap the salt cup to make it level and compact.
Thanks for the feedback guys! Its kind of insane how it doesn't come with any instructions at all lol. I wonder if its because they assume only experienced reefers will use it not forst timers? Lol but once again thanks for the help i love RC!
I use this salt and to make about 15 gallons I use 8 cups. I use the 20 gallon brute container for mixing and fill it to the top inner ridge. I'm not exactly sure how many gallons it is but I know its between 14-15 when filled to that point. Sometimes I need to add a little more salt to fine tune it or a little more RODI. Hope that helps and yes I agree that its crazy that no mixing instructions exist.:crazy1:
