But come on, a hybrid between a blacktip and an australian blacktip? Is that really a hybrid?

I'd be more impressed if a trigger fish mated with a porcupine puffer, or something like that!

It's kind of like Queen Angels and Blue Angels. Only difference is that such hybridization hasn't been documented in sharks before. Though I can't say I find such a discovery surprising when you consider how well hybridization is known in much of the rest of the animal kingdom.
