i would like to buy the hydor 6 2 of them for my 180. My ? is can i use my reefkeeper 2 for the pumps or do i need to buy there wavemaker? and how are these pumps and dos the wavemaker work good with getting a nice wave in the tank?

I don't see why the magnums wouldn't work with any wave maker. I believe they have a specificly designed shaft to run them on a wavemaker, your reefkeeper 2 will do just fine. Shoot koralia an e-mail to just double check but i'm pretty sure your set

I had 2 Magnum 6 on a Red Sea Wavemaster for about 6 months.

The unidirectional startup works fantastic with any wavetimer. You do not need the Koralia unit, that is only for the DC controllable pumps.

i will do that thanks

The current Magnums are not designed to run on wavemakers that shut them on and off. Constantly turning them on and off will shorten their life.

Hydor is coming out with a new version of the Magnum that is "shaftless" which will be compatable with "on/off" style wave makers. Unfortunately these new Magnums are not on the market yet.

i just found out I need to make a correction. All the magnums are safe on standard wavemakers.

The new shaftless ones are still going to be awsome though.
;)
