I haven't been on these boards for some time, I'm having issues with calcium and alkalinity is what brings me back for info. But, while I'm here Id like to know of any others using the hydra 52's and there opinions. I'm satisfied with them.

Recently traded my Kessil ap700 for two Hydra 52's and one 26 both HD, it's crazy how much i love these things. In comparison to the kessils, these are absolutely better IMO. it's completely dimmable upto 1% which Kessil can't. Though i've lost the shimmer, it still has SOME shimmer and different controllability of each spectrum.

Total opposite for me. Went from Hydra 52s to AP700s and love them so much better. I don't run moonlights so the low portion doesn't bother me. Corals have responded much better with increased growth n the colors are much better.

would a 26 be enough for 40 breeder? i was looking at those this morning.

I was all set on a current sat marine PRO - but then I read a review on the hydra. I don't want to be for a 52 but I'd consider a 26 if it would be enough.

I don't have anything yet - tank will be new. I know I'll want coral though so I'm buying what I need now vs upgrade later

A single one, no. Two would be enough for that foot print and depth.

I have 2 52 HDs and they are awesome. They most certainly grow SPS and are actually easy to setup. This is coming from a MH guy that really thought the whole LED train was a wreck. Its not.
