Hydroid ID please

Well I can't get a pic of it as it is too fine a line on which to focus, but I'll try to discribe it to you. There are two of them and they are attached to my chilly coral. They are basically a fine line (like a head hair) with wrung's like a ladder across the line. These wrungs are about 1/4 inch wide across and thin as a hair as well. They're lots of them going all the way up the main thin line. The whole thing can extent to about 6" or so and retract into itself. They remind me of hydroids that we ran into in Mexico once ..when we were snorkelling we got stung by them...they called them sea wasps.
Can anyone tell me what they are?
If they pose any problem to anything in the tank?
