The specimine in question looks like a 1-2mm jellyfish and swims aroun the tank (especially at night) the tenticles are short (and under magnification are branched at the tips into two extremely short tendrils). Is this the same "hydroid" as the seahorse threads all warn against?

HI,

What do you mean,by swimming around the tank can you see them or have they moved from when you last saw them??

They swim with a pulsing jelly action. When they are done swimming they attach to the glass (or whatever) and "pertch". If I wasn't planning on having dwarf hoses I wouldn't touch them because they are a lot of fun to watch. Came in on the Seagrass (probably). Others (non horse caretakers) have posted about them. European species sting/ carribean don't (from what brief reading I did). Now I am on the horse theads and taking the "threat" seriously. Please advise.

They don't sound like hydrids, hydroids fix themselfs to a rock you woundn't see them swimming around. But i don't know if they will sting your dwarf seahorses.Best wait until someone who knows more about hydrids comes on site.:reading:

Yeah, I searched hydroid Jelly and found many examples... 1-2mm, clear, swims, clings to tank etc. not uncommon in type but there are so many variations. The ocean is a really interesting place. I believe i will try syphoning them out but there is a small disappointment in it.
