Hypes Archipelago

Having recently torn down my tank... this makes my heart ache.(budget/time constraints and did not want the corals or fish to suffer)

I wanted to downsize when I start back up and this makes me think that less can be more. Keep up the good work!

Sorry you had to break down your tank but look forward to seeing your next build. Dont worry nano setups are just as rewarding as the larger ones.

Thanks again

LOLz, +1! I mounted mine vertically and it grew out into this crazy "joe the coral" shape, still waiting to see if it normalizes or stays weird. I guess the horizontal thing was key for a "normal" growth form. Under ambient light my hoek looks purple/blue, just like my cali tort. Probably the only two pieces that actually look "good" under a warm incandescent bulb. Makes me think even higher of that South African sunlit only reef I drool on all the time, insane colors considering!

Mine is the same way because ive seen a piece mounted vertically and it almost looks like a different coral because of the growth pattern. Heres a pic of the hoek under ambient lighting....

Its much more vivid in person but ive never seen a coral with such intense coloration under ambient light.

Dang, that's sweet looking!

Cheers for the names rehype. I'll be honest though, a lot of them look the same to me so I'm still going to struggle finding any. Haha. Although I'll be happy with any if they look half as good as yours!!!!

Thanks troopa

Hype, time for more red, yellow, light green, and turquoise sps!

Already taken care of

Hype, as always your tank looks great. Love your monti's, phenomenal color and PE. Clams look great also.

Lpabsolute, I love your avatar! I almost always notice it before tank pics... :)

Hype, did you get rid of your reactor? Are you going all natural filtration now? Are the two tubes UV Sterilizers?
BTW, excellent Digi island. Do you think you would get the same color with LEDs?

An Absolutely stunning and inspiring tank! Im in the process of making a shallow cube similar to your dimensions, however mine being 12" high. I have a quick question on lighting, would you recommend a 4x24W 24" ATI SP or a 6x24W 24" ATI SP? My near future tank is going to be a mixed tank with mainly SPS. Much appreciated! :D

Yep i got rid of the reactor i use a small aquaclear filter to house my GFO,carbon and small algae turf scrubber however the cheato does most of the work. Yes the tubes are 9 watt UV sterilizers. I believe you could get similar colors with LED's but i think the spectrum given from purple plus T5 bulbs are what excites some colors from my SPS that i didnt see or werent as vibrant under LED's alone.

Above your MP10's you have a clear plastic piece... I assume this is to keep the top from vortexing. Where did you come across these items?

The were made by another reefer named "Glazer" however for some strange reason he went into hiding and stopped making awesome acrylic products.

Thanks so much. You could get away with the 4 bulb but i would recommend the 6 bulb fixture for more bulb options.
