My puffer has ich that seems deeply embedded in his fins. Foxface has a few new spots.

Should I do the copper in my QT because the ich is getting worse (and possibly kill the fish)

or

do hypo that may not work because the ich is getting bad, and have the fish die becaues I didn't cure them?

Doing something this week...

Thanks!

My puffer had a very bad case of ich. I first did hypo for 6 weeks at 1.008 - 1.009. This looked like it worked but a week or so later the ich started to show up again. Nothing added to the tank. I have treated with copper now and all looks good.

Puffer fish have no scales and can be more sensative to copper so keep a good eye on him. Might have to treat with a lower dose for a longer time. When I treated mine it lost a good part of its appetite.

Hypo would be safer if monitored and performed correctly but may not be as effective as copper. Just my opinion.

You could alwasy try hypo first as that should clean him up considerably and it may work for you. Just don't do hypo and copper at the same time.
