Even with weekly water changes, at some point if you go SPS you will have to dose. Either by hand or automated. I dose 2 part daily by hand, and top off with Kalk, by hand. Very simple, and as long as I'm consistent, levels stay consistent, LOL! Nano's are not as difficult as some make it out to be. In fact, in some ways, they are easier and less maintenance!

Update: May 20, 2013.
I did the biweekly water change this morning. I went away for the weekend and left the canopy off with a fan blowing across the tank. The 3 gallon refill was empty Sunday evening. I have to remember to keep canopy on. I should not have a problem with light penetration with 250w, 10" above, max temp of 81.6.
With canopy on, I refill bucket once a week. When I leave for longer, I will use 5 gallons, 2 weeks vacation.




Filtration system is working well. I think biopellets are balanced with tank. Coral are coloring and growth is visible.

I agree with concerning the ease of smaller tanks. I make 5 gallons of water biweekly. No supplements like essential element that adds expense. Kalk and two part down the road. Biopellets are doing well so far. Corals look healthy and coloring.

After two visitors asked me what are those brown stick-like things, I decided to get serious about the tank. All of my corals are brown and healthy. So, I invested in a new skimmer and sump.

I changed by setup to LED. I purchased a Euphotica 16 LED Light. On March 6 I installed the unit and was instantly surprised!!!
