I am going to start freshwater dipping my new additions

There are different procedures for different animals.

You might want to look in the various forums and see if the procedures aren't in a sticky thread.

One thing for certain, the Temp and PH have to be matched otherwise they can go into osomotic shock. I've dipped twice, and both times the fish died within a day. I am not at all sure about coral though.

at my work, we have done it a few times but it only works 50% of the time other 50% death.....but lol I dont do it I watch instead...good luck!

I have dipped a lot of times in fresh water. The book I have says 2 to 3 min. I never did it that long cuz the fish stress out too much. I usually watch them closely and after they lay on one side for about 10 secs. I take them out. Never had any die. I have also uses a Formalin bath with heavy aeration. 20 drops formalin to a gallon of water for 30 mins. Do not go any longer cuz you will fry your fish.

The chance of snails carrying ich are non-existent. Snails don't get ich.

Cap is correct plus the fact that even a short freshwater dip will prove fatal to almost all marine snails and other mollusks.

The only thing I trust with a FW dip are zoas. I match the temp and a few drops of lugols, 2 minutes max. Also, like Cap said check the appropriate forum and look for stickys on the subject or due a search.
