i have been thinking about the best way to configure my sump (100 gal rubbermaid trough) and would like to see how different people have laid theirs out. so post a pic or diagram if you have one. I realize all sumps are different, but i am looking for ideas and i know you are a crazy creative bunch of reefers.

thanks,

The Rubbermaid troughs are great for large sumps. I had running on my 125 before I had to break it down. They do have a down side however. Putting in standard baffles is darn near impossible. I tried several methods and nothing worked well. I finally went with the tub in trough design that is pretty popular. There is a Rubbermaid sump thread one of the other forums... sorry I do not remember if it was DIY or Filtration.

Here are a few snaps of my own. This is in a 150, but I had the same setup in a 100 before I replaced it. Lots more shots in my Photobucket album. Give me a shout if you have any questions.

I have a similar set up and do have a RDSB In a seperate tub so It can be removed If It becomes a problem long term! Rubbermaids work very well for cheap as long as you have It hidden who cares what It looks like as long as It does the job. JMHO

The tub is being held off the bottom via a milk carton tub like they used to deliver milk in.

No DSB in my setup. Always though about one but did not get around to it. If I did I would do it separately like Bill said.

Here is mine currently. I wanted a sump under the tank but there is no way my skimmer would fit there so I just decided to do it externally. Not a big deal since it is in the basement. I barely fit the skimmer in the 30 gal. tank but it worked out well. Don't have any microbubble problems with the filter sock on the overflow.
