ok guys first i hope i ready they are on there way lol.

I used to work at my LFS and recently i decided to start a sps tank again.

I went into my LFS and grabbed 20 gallons outta there NICE reef tank, and started a 20 long. There tank param. were great.

After a month or 2 i bought a 40 breeder, and slowly set it up.

Now i used 90% of the 20 gallon and then some new salt water for the 40.

I have had it up for 4 days it has 150 hqi and 2/65 watt actinics, 30lbs of LR and 30lbs of LS, with 30 lbs of aragonite.

I have a 2 clown, 12hermits, 12 snails, and a 3 head hammer.

On the way i have Blue tip table acro
Purple polyp Seriatapora hystrix
Electric green Ora Microphthalma
hydrophora colony
2" acro frag-blue

I just wanted other peoples opinions?

i will post pics when they arrive and then a couple weeks later

Thanx guys

Chris

You really should have let the tank go through its many changes first. You might not have too bad of a time, but you may have to do several large and frequent water changes. But good luck with it. Let us know how its going. Make sure you have all the test kits you will need, and use them to find out whats needed.

Agree with above. You should really wait until your tank matures before you add any SPS. Of all the corals, sps need very stable parameters/proer parameters to thrive and survive. With a new tank set-up, I think you are really minimizing your chances of being successful with many of the sps you listed or any coral.

Good luck with it and keep us posted...

I too agree and since most of the sps you are getting are coming from me I am willing to hold them until your tank is ready I would say a month or more to be honest. Was your rock cured? It is good to use established water but you will still go through a cycle with new rock. It might not take a month but I wouldn't want to see the corals die to make a $. I have no problem waiting if you are willing. Remember the golden rule: only bad things happen quickly in this hobby!
No rush;)!

As far as whether or not the tank is ready, doesn't that depend on where the lr and ls in the 40br came from? I mean, if it all was transferred over from the 20, which had been set up for a month or two, then shouldn't he/she be ok, assuming the water paramaters were all stable? To me, it didn't sound like this was all a brand new set up that had only been up for a few days. But I could be reading it wrong.

If I am reading it wrong, and the tank set up is that new, but let's say for the sake of argument that it has cycled, that just means this person has more work cut out for them in terms of keeping an eye on the paramaters daily and making any necessary adjustments, right? Or am I just completely off base? Granted, it probably would have been better to wait, but when you get somebody in that situation who didn't, how do you go about fixing or maintaining it?

DaddyJax,

I got some frags from mattntara1 in Tampa or maybe Brandon.
Is that you?

If not do you have a site or ebay store?
Will they let you post it.
Thanks.

MSN you arnt reading it wrong, all the rock/water say 50% of the water in the 40 gallon has gone through the cycle period, so i was thinking more like this was a 50% water change for them.

The param. were all fine in the 20 Long.

I can wait a couple more weeks to throw those corals in if ya wanted to wait daddyjax. that would be much appreciated.

The para. on the tank that has been up for 5days are fine, and like i said 50% of the water and 100% of the live rock was from the couple month old 20 long and then 50 % of the 20long water has been in another reef tank for about 2yrs.

I am thinking that i will wait a couple weeks or so...see how things go tho daddyjax i will grab those corals from ya....thank you very much for holding them, that is much appreciated.

hopefully will have enough cash to get more then too.

I will post pics for yopu guys to show how its doing once i get everything situated.

Nope, not me. I dont have a store but I sell a lot on here. If you want some stuff take a look at my gallery and let me know if see anything you like. I also have LOTS of stuff not in my gallery I can email pics of.

I can wait, no problem.

I only have 5, 1=online,2=pm, 3=search, 4=buddy, 5 =edit.

What's up with that?

My firewall, ZA, has been asking if i want to run "spooler", not knowing what it is, I declined.

Is it that maybe?
