Go shake your butt at the Strand 
When I was up there that's about all we did. That and go out for steak dinners three times a week lol. Syracuse is just an hour away and there's stuff to do on the lake.
Um, I don't think the army builds bases in fun places...

Was in Fayetteville in college. PLENTY to do around Bragg, of course it's not out in the boonies either. Maybe you should take up Salmon fishing and head up to Pulaski.

A long time ago there was a bar called the "Golden Lion" in Watertown. I used to play there in rock bands.

May still be there. I don't know. I will ask around. I haven't been to any of the bars around here.
The Golden Unicorn is an interesting place. It is a weird out of the way diner that has been decorated with like 10000 unicorn collectables, mostly from the Dollar Store. The first time we went I didn't know if I wanted to eat there...very much a dive....
Most awesome food ever. HUGE pancakes, great cheeseburgers. Really kewl place. :fun4:

It's been a long time since I was in Watertown but the Unicorn doesn't sound like the Lion!

fat-tony, I've never been to Bragg. As I typed that, I was thinking that the Navy seems to have some nice base sites, Baltimore and San Diego come to mind.
Do they still have that transfer page at the back of Army Times? Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢d suggest Germany or someplace in Europe if you canââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t get Hawaii.
I think it was Benny's Steak House. IDK if they were great steaks, but we got to know the owner and she would charge us only for the dinner bill and not charge for the drinks. The bar bill would normally be about triple the dinner, so that was really nice of her!
I also did a trip to Sackets Harbor, where we went to a comedy club. I had a good time there, but that might have just been because I got the cute comedian girls number
The city looked pretty cool, if you havenââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t gone yet Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢d suggest it, especially when it warms up.

It was unreal. Our campus was literally across the highway from the far stretches of the base. Many a night I fell asleep to the sound of war games (i kinda liked it, always been a military fan). Daily chinook would fly over and set off car alarms and A10's, C130's.....man I used to love that. Now I don't see squat up here, kinda miss it.
