I am terrible at taking pictures

Close ups of coral, full tank shots. They are all terrible. Any tips for taking decent cell phone pics?

I actually get decent shots with my cell cam, set it to macro, use a gel filter and just play around with distance until it focus's the best.

No experience with higher end cams though. I know there is also a cheap little waterproof bag you can put a point and shoot in and then take underwater pics, Justin seems to have a lot of success that way. I think they are available on ebay and amazon.

I'm no photographer so I get better pics with my cell and a yellow piece of acrylic as a gel. Then I do with my expensive DSLR with filets and UV filters unless I use a tripod, that is the key to great picture taking.

definitely being able to keep a steady hand or use a tripod helps a lot in aiding the device in focusing. With the depth I take pictures at I can rest the edge of my hand on the glass to steady my cell cam when taking pics.
