Since everyone else is just too quick on the draw when this fish pops up on Divers Den.:D I decided to get a thalassoma quinquevittatum wrasses instead. The ONLY reason why I liked the parrot. Was it's vibrant colors, nothing else. This wrasse is beautiful has almost the same striking colors. After I quarantine this wrasse it will go in my 240 FOWLR system. So has anyone kept this wrasse before? Would like to hear your experiences , and some pictures if you could share. Thank's..

IME large Thalassoma species are aggressive, and frankly, just mean. We called them "eye removers" at the LFS I worked at.

I'm currently removing a bluehead wrasse from my FO.... a species I would consider small for the genus.

Thalassoma's can get mean, and typically go after the eyes of the fish they don't like.

So long as you don't have any small fish in the FO, I don't foresee a problem.

I've kept a banana wrasse before ( 3 years) . It was a good 6 inches. It didn't bother any of my tangs or angels. Does the quinquevittatum have a different demeanor? Thanks..

I had a banana wrasse in my FO. He was great for about 12 months. Then he tried to kill my Huma Huma. He was relentless. I finally put him in the sump until a fellow FO keeper took him. Mean mean mean fish when he went over the edge.
