I could use some BB advice.....

Hello all you BB reefers out there..... I currently have a 75 RR, and am currently running with a 3" sandbed. I am dealing with a little cyano outbreak, which is all over the sandbed. I am testing 0 on TDS meter, running a phoban reactor, have a great skimmer(Euro-Reef RS80), and all params in check.... I recently removed my Refugium, and have tweeked the lighting a bit, which seems to have spurred this cyano outbreak. I have tons of flow in my 75, over 4000gph currently, and am very much considering taken the sandbed out. Any BB reefers advice would be greatly appreciated..... BTW, mixed reef, mostly sps corals and clams..... Thanks guys.....

Thanks DaddyJax..... I knew you would chime in... OK, here it goes, should I slowly remove the sandbed, or break down my tank and remove sandbed all together. I don't want to stress my corals or fish, but think long terms, would be the best approach to keeping a SPS dominated tank..... Thanks again for the reply.....

I did both at two different times and I would say to take everything out because I left alot of sand under the rocks and so on when I just slowly removed it. This way you know what is under the rocks.

I went ahead and have been doing just that all day today.... I found it pretty easy to scoop out most of the sand, and then siphon with 1/2" tubing into a bucket, the remaining sand. I agree, I used a glove, but still had bristle stings on my arms... Owell, I am going to post a before and after thread when I finish, should be up and running tonight. Thanks again for all your help, I can't wait to finish.....

Now I know why I broke down the DSB, SOOOOO much detritus, my tank is cloudy as hell.... It is taking longer than I thought, due to the fact that I can't see what I am scaping, very slow process, pictures to come soon.....
