So i found this hitched on a zoo rock. I thought i was a weird mushroom or something till it switched rocks. I've looked through majano pictures and it doesnt look like quite the same, there are so many more tentacles on this one in my tank. It's actually pretty nice looking, but i dont want pest anemones in my tank! Its about the size of a quarter.

no it doesnt look like that the tipt are too ball like. The tips were bubbled but know they have elongated a bit. I dont think its a bta cause of size. its got that cool different colored outer ring too

i sure can when i get home after work. Besides being grainy, it looks like that picture. do you want a different angle (like head on so you can see the mouth?) or what?

took this picture of it too at the same time. probably wont help cause its pretty much the same shot.... i hope its an awesome bta and i dont have to kill it. you can barely see it in this picture but its got this pinkish mottled pattern near the mouth and between the tentacles on the body

just looked it up. i actually just purchased a polyp of that mushroom the other day and wasnt sure of the species. Its an awesome mushroom. definitely not this though. Its gotta be an anemone cause it switched rocks overnight.

Once in a blue moon someone will post a pic of that anemone and ask for an id. Like yours, they usually come in as hitchhikers. They get larger than majanoes. I don't recall if anyone has ever given a definitive id for it though. It has a strong resemblance to a BTA, but they're not BTAs. From what I recall, they can get several inches across. I wish I could remember if anyone has id'd it, but I can't. Also, I don't think they become pest anemones, but I'm not sure why I think that.

so i got lucky huh? i guess i'll try feeding it some to see if i can get it bigger. i like the way it looks and the colors, i just dont want it multiplying like rabbits and then killing all my coral.

i hope youre right about the pest thing.

Majanoes have a lower tentacle count. If I were you, I would feed it and let it grow out. I recall some of the ones like you have are maybe 5 inches across or so, pretty big.

heres a much better picture. 5 inches! thats a decent size. think i could get a clwonfish to host in it? or would it eat the fish

Oh nice looking anemone..I swear I saw a picture of an anemone that looks just like this but I can't remember the name of it. Same white out line pattern and every thing.

I know what you mean by that Christina I think it was sometime this week I seen a picture of the same thing on a web site. I will do some looking and try to bring up my computer history to see if I can find it.
