I.d. This wrasse

It was sold to me as a black tamarin wrasse, but not 100% certain. Anyone have an idea what kind of wrasse it is? Sorry for the bad cell phone picture, but it has a whiteish tail and a distinct black spot on its dorsal fin. Thanks.

Thanks guys for the help. So after doing some further research, I do agree its a dusky wrasse. However on liveaquaria the dusky wrasse is labeled as Halichoeres annularis. Am I missing something here?

Live aquaria has the wrong latin name, it is halichoeres marginatus as Hunter mentioned.

There is actually differing opinions from authorities on this. Most fish references, such as fishbase, do not recognize annularisas valid, but rather as a junior synonym. Other experts, such as Allen and Kuiter recognize it as a distinct species from marginatus, seperated geographically and also with differences in patterns.

Science has not fully caught up, nor do scientists always agree on what is a legitimate species and what is a synonymous description.

Coral safe, may go after inverts. It is a sand burying wrasse. Males are quite beautiful. Care is similar to most other Halichoeres species.
