I don't want to start any arguments, but need some advice...

I'm having a very hard time deciding between the NC12DX and the Aquapod 12. This is going to be in my cubicle at work and I fear for the Nano Cube to crack and leak, but I am afraid of the Aquapod scratching or leaking at the seam. Anyone have some good words of wisdom?

The aquapod won't leak at the seam if you did not get a "bad" pod. You can definately leak test the tank first, and if it leaks the manufacturer will send you a new one.

Acrylic is strong, and won't break as easily as glass. The NC seems to crack A LOT. There are so many cracking stories that I'm easily dissuaded from ever getting one of those.

So I say Aquapod

The thing I like about the NC though is the lighting mods a guy can do if you get crazy with the corals. 4 watts/gallon doesn't seem like enough for LPS or SPS. I don't have either now, but I am interested in starting to get some frags.

SPS need Metal Haildes.. PC's wont cut it and i have seen LPS in tank w/ 4 WPG ..but WPG is a horrible way to look at it....

i have had both tanks...currently have an aquapod got rid of my nano jbj..pro's and cons..

jbj:
pros
better made..overall good fit and finish..
easier to upgrade lighting
runs relatively cool..
with simple mods even better

cons:
not 12 gallons, about 9 gallons .
needs a better pump.

aquapod
pros:
true 12 gallon bigger then the nano.
good flow stock.
seperate switches for actinic and 10k
really good moonlights.

cons:
everytime you open the canopy it rubs and pops in the back.bad..
ballast and everything is inside hood, more of a pain to mod and this tank def. runs warmer.
..

also BOTH tanks are glass.
the nc 12 is not the nano with the cracking problems as much as the 24 nano.
the pod is cheaper.
but i would get the nano for an office enviroment..

i don't have any problem sticking to softies and shrooms, just thought i could try something different for the tank i spend 9hrs a day in front of. the jbj might have to be the way to go....

And my addition.....I have lps growing just fine under stock lighting. There are so many factors involved with lights. You can do lps. SH
