The recovery process has been a slow one. The Montipora Digitatas seem to have recovered the quickest.

I only lost (1) nice colony of pink Monitpora Capricornis, (1) Frag of Prostrata, (1) Leng Sy Frag and (1) Brown cheek blenny.

it's good to see that most of your corals are starting to come back. shows you how hardy these guys really are...when kept by someone who know what they're doing. :)

tony.

Damn Rios. I lost a whole 20 gal SPS reef when my 2 mo old rio return pump failed while I was out of town.

I don't care how they've "fixed" their designs. A company like that doesn't deserve my business.

Eheim for all internal pumps now.

Glad most of your stuff made it.

luvtolean, I here you. I have decided to part with my money and go Tunze for circulation.

I have though of going Sieo cause 'everone else is', but then I just come to this thread for a quick reminder of what TAAM has done to so many tanks, even my tank was back 5 years or so ago and was only a 20 (and happened twice - slow learner here).

There is a principle at hand here is that TAAM is not a responsible company with it's product design. If you contact them, they may offer to replace the pump, but no compensation for damage to livestock. I never bothered to contact them regarding my pumps in the past. I did contact them regarding the Sieo's and they seemed to really have changed design and move on, but...it still hurts to keep seeing posts like this.

One late evening when you cant sleep, search 'My Seio wont start'...LOL

I'm an ME, and I know well, a new product from a company doesn't mean the fundamental design and corporate culture that produced the previous garbage has changed to the point I trust them with something as important to me as my tank's life.

Seios will(do) have problems, as will every other product TAAM produces.

Is a Tunze Stream really that much more money if you total up the cost of everything in your tank, and the risk of a Rio? I don't think so, and this is the only power head now inside my tank.

It might not be oil with TAAM now, but it will be something.

I told you not to give up on them to soon, good job!

I'm glad you chimed in during the crisis. I may have given up. I appreciate your help and support.

Thank You.
Tom

My RIO failed last week as well. Luckily was I only using it to mix salt water in a 20g Rubbermaid. I had no oil spill. Only the acrid smell of burnt plastic / epoxy. The Rubbermaid was tossed too.My main display tank is running eheims. Some things are just not worth it to save a few bucks.

What I do want to do is question all of the people using Seio's, these pumps are made by the same manufactorer. Because of my and other's experience with Rio's, I will never put a Seio in my tank either.

Chris

Cut the crap. Thats like saying "you should never drive a ford because Pintos blew up." Theyre a different line of pump, built completely different. Has anyone had a SEIO melt? NO.

Stop spreading lies.

As far as the acros, raise your lights up really high. They don't need the light now, and it WILL kill them. Bleached corals need to have less light.
