I started building the stand in February and I put saltwater in the tank today. It seems like it has been an eternity. Still a lot of work to do but most of the heavy lifting is over.

Thanks Chad. In case you did not know, you supplied the sand and salt. And many inhabitants soon I hope.

I hope everything is doing ok since your power outage.

That is a beautiful stand, I've never seen one as nice as that. You must have made that yourself. That tank is a work of art.

I did a little aquascaping. No rock touching glass so I can keep it clean. Open center channel for swimming room and coral growth. Not too much rock, a lot of open space. I want the pillars to be taller with more overhangs but I have not yet accomplished that. Let me know what you think.

Very cool! I like the openness of the tank, don't much care for the "box of rocks" look...good job!

How hot do the ballasts get? I would be concerned about heating up your tank as heat rises. Sorry been there done that before.

Tank looks good.

They really do not get very hot. But I will keep an eye on that. My stand is completely closed so the bottom of the tank is not exposed underneath. Hopefully this will help. If not, I'll move them or run a fan in the stand.
