I give up on ricordeas.

Wow... I personally use 3 different SG meters, a refractometer and two swing arms I change them up every now and again and test them against eachother. Would stink if it is your SG. Mine have thrived and are multiplying on a slow basis "slower than my mushrooms which I think multiply fast" I keep my SG at 1.024 & use oceanic. I use purified water from walmart, the green lid versions or distilled water with purple lid. I buy about 30G at a time.

I recently had green bubble & black crud outbreak in my tank, AZSB gave me this red large pill marked with an E from memory on it to crush up and put in the tank as chemiclean did nothing to it. So I crushed it up and within 30 hours, the tank was spotless and everything was in top notch condition, did not bother anything!

So if it is bacteria of some type, whatever that red pill was should kill it as I was told that is what it was designed to do.

Well anyways VERY sorry for your losses! Only advice I can give is the SG and water thing.... I know I can get bad water even from a large source but since I started just purchasing water and not going through my own rodi, I have not had anymore issues with anything for almost a year now, save the green and black bubble crud outbreak which I think came from a recent addition to the tank.

Last, are your rics under direct light..? How tall is your tank? You have an orbit correct..? It is on it's own mounting feet? Still useing a Phoenix? what is the water temp? Is it constant?

Never been able to order Ric with you all But If I had Helfrich’s Chic I would donate a split ric to you for all your hard work on these orders you do.

Next time I'll get a few with you.

Well moved them all under my little arch on the left. It is weird they look like someone just went to town with scissors. Some are totally uneffected but most it looks like arent gonna make it. I hate loosing livestock it makes me feel so bad. Honestly the only thing I can think of was a PH shift overnight. Wouldnt that irritate everything else? IME my more rare zaos and palys react to water quality issues before the rics ever did.

Its gonna get too warm to do another order anyways so looks like I will wait until I get the new tank set up. Its SO par for the course, Fenner will be here and my rics look like crap LMAO!! Thats so "me".

Guess I am gonna have to load up on Zoas at the auction, so look out folks! HAHAH.

I pm'd you about this same thing happening to me about a month ago remember? People were telling me it was too much light but I disagreed and you told me to just try it in the shade. Well out of those rics that I got, I have lost all but one and I think its going to die soon. Then I got some others, that are in the light and they seem to be fine for the time being. I wish I knew what causes this because I love rics more than any other coral, well...except maybe zoos....no its still ricordea. Anyway keep us updated because its an expensive problem.

Yep mine are all gone. AND then to add to it, because of the rics melting and despite my WCs, carbon and poly filter all my SPS rtned and now I am down to just Zoas. No clue on why they do this. My tank was looking AWESZOME a couple weeks ago. No clue, but I am not TOUCHING my tank until I get the new one lol.

That is truly frightening, to go from a healthy looking tank to nothing left but zoas in just a few weeks. I understand your reluctance to invest any more in that tank. If it is a bacteria, maybe it will die off if it doesn't have any rics to infect for a month or two. How are the picasso clowns doing?

The one picasso is great. My male jumped like a year ago and I havent found one I liked enought yet to buy. Not sure if its bacterial, I just dont know. It may be as simple as too much light and after time they just get burnt out. Persoanlly I cant imagine that since I have been in love with rics for like 8 years and had them in every tank I have owned. Oh well. The zoas look great thou lol, but yea I am not doing anything with this tank anymore. It wasnt even a few weeks, one day everything looked fine 3 days later rics and sps were gone. Unfortunatly when you run a nano tank naked thats what happens, you have no room for error and when something happens it really gets to everything. Bummer, but lesson learned. I am bummed that I have spent about $1000 on rics this year and nothing to show for it. :(

Ah well, onto a new system, I think this one has just had it. You can be damn sure I will have some serious filtration and skimming on my next ADA. lol.

Weird things seem to happen in nanos some times, but if its any consolation I had my rics melt one day and I have like 30 SPS in the tank, so it wasn't a water quality issue, things just seem to happen some times.

^ yep it couldnt have been water quality. I check just about every week for EVRYTHING, even oxygen, mag, iodine etc. Had to be the light or bacterial. Ah well.
