I got my first fish today.

I added 2 true percula clown fish today and I added a small Sailfin tang. I am excited to finally see fish in my tank. YAY

You added a sailfin tang to a 44gallon tank?! 240 min is what that fish needs. I don't mean to scold you or anything but I'd research more before keeping him I it's indeed a 44gal. Also it would be easier to remove now than later. IMO if you can't keep a fish for its entire life you should look at other options. However in a 44 no tang will work, maybe a pigmy angelfish

LOL I knew I was gonna get scolded, I think the 44 is temporary at this point anyways. He is fine for at least a year or two because he is wicked small. I know he can't stay in this tank for a long period but I know he would be lost in a big tank with high flow. He is really small.

i actually anticipated you saying that and responded to an answer like this above. I hope it works out for you but going from experience with sailfins I know it is likley a disaster waiting to happen. and tangs grow fast. in 2 years he will be almost full grown, or dead from stress. really I hope it works bud but ive seen it not.

The sailfin will be fine for that amount of time.

it will be fine but id be carful what else you add so the bioload stays managable. big fish have big poops I really wasnt trying to be harsh i just wanted to offer an honest opinion. I hope it all works out and it will as long as you upgrade down the road or trade it. hope to meet you at the swap.

You may or may not of heard this yet but make sure you limit the food intake. Salfins are forging machines and i swear poop more then any other fish which can lead to bioload problems. With all that being said they're one of my favorite fish wish ya the best of luck.

If he gets to big then he can go into my brothers 150 dt. Ill try to take some cell pics. Wont get him yet though because he is staying behind the rockwork for now.
