I know this has prolly been posted a thousand times but i would like some advice from you all specific to my situation.
I laid my kids down to bed tonight and went to view my tank(s), something drew my attention to this stick of acro that was given to me some time ago. It is and always has been bleach white with 0 polyps, i figured it was normal at best, or maybe it was stressed but was getting better because this acro was growing despite its state. So seeing growth and no alge that builds up on a dead coral i left it alone.
Tonight i am looking at it because for whatever reason it did not look so hot, its bleach white with no polyps to begin with i dont know how it gets worse but, it looked bad. I got up real close and was checkin it out to make sure there was no recession and BAM i see the red bugs on it.
I right away went to a colony that i purchased a few months back that has been loosin color and there they are again. By now my hearts pounding and im feeling dirty like ive cought some disease, im freakin out plain and simple, you could say i was buggin.
I have a frag system that was just recently set up. I have acros in there as well, i think i have 4 acro in my display system, all of wich can easily be removed for the most part. I JUST put 2 acros in there i got from a bud that tore down his reef and i put the rest of his coral in my frag system.
Im going to be realistic, cross contamination is very possible, because i swapped stuff out of my display once i got the frag system ready for coral. AND if they came from my recent additions from my buddy, its the same case cause i put his coral in both tanks.
I dont want to destroy my shrimps and pods and crabs in my display system if i dont have to. How long can they live without an acro if i take the acro out and just treat them in the frag system.
What else will they eat on?
Grrrrrrrrrr
Any help is more than welcome.
