One possibility that does occur to me is uronema, an infection which is showing up with some frequency among chromis right now, kind of a new thing in the last few years. It's hard to spot on their pale skins, but is kind of like an ich-sized cauliflower lumpiness often around the mouth, and I've seen it appear, take a few, then do nothing else to others of same species in the same tank.

It's been said that they are poor shippers or due to their cheap price they are not cared for properly.
The only death issues I had personally were close to time of purchase, possibly already in poor health.
Not saying that is your issue but a possibility.

In my case, this is not the problem. All of the damsels that I have lost, have had significant bruises and missing scales. Several others also have missing scales and some have bruises, though all are still active and eating well. It is pretty obvious that there is a lot of aggression amongst themselves.

Yep. Unless something else is getting them---they're the culprits.

The way chromis die of is by the WHOLE Group picking on the weakest one..The others usually do not fight among themselves. except maybe fighting over there place in line to pick on the weakest one.. If you are loosing them that fast and more then one with marks and issues .This my vary well be a infection and not them fighting.
Mine never fight among themselves.. They just all gang up on the smallest or weakest one.. Picking the weakest off . not a free for all fight so to speak..

This is from my own observation with several groups of Chromis.. Someone else my have seen them fight differently...
