I hate you pg&e , loss of power since 83am no response or notice

Thanks for everyone that reached out and offered insight. Power came back on around 145am. Surprising how fast you fall asleep just laying in the dark with nothing to do. When I woke up around 2am. Tank temps were moving back up. Lights where out didn't want to disrupt the tank more so I left it as it. So far I know for a fact my pintail wrasses / rosescale trio and bellus angel pair are gone. I was able to see the emerald crabs eating what was left of them. On a side note having an effective clean up crew is good and bad. They get to work fast but sometimes they work so fast that if you don't notice a fish missing , looking for the body after is tough. I'll be able to get a better understanding of what I'm working with later today. Hopefully it didn't wipe out everything. A very valuable lesson learned. Signed up for PGE notifications. Check your equipment. My apex for some reason didn't email me , gotta check it's programming and heart beat notification. Have a back up plan! Ways to keep O2 levels up and water movement and HEAT!!
Thanks guys.

good call on triple checking things. I'll be making sure my apex is sending out notifications still, later today. I bought a generator for $120 from Walmart a few years ago and its been solid for the scheduled maintenance so far.

toan,
Sorry man Just when your getting back on track. I have been contemplating buying a generator just in case something like this does happen.
Hang in there.

Will the livestock survive if mp40s stay up but everything else fails?

yes. unless your home is really cold or really hot. It's not usually the minor temp swings that kill things. It's the lack of oxygen exchange.

Bummer! I read this and went out and ordered a 4,500 watt generator and will sign up for pge notifications. Generator was less than $300 and will have enough power for all 3 of my reefs, refrigerator, tv and wi-fi.

I guess over time we tend to over look things. I've been in this hobby for over who years. Never has a power outage effected me like it did. Be prepared people. Check your equipment. Sad part is I even have a apex with fusion hooked up. I had reset my apex around Xmas last year when I plumbed in my frag tank. I never set the programming back up..... this could have been a way to help also. As others have said. Lesson learned. Pge notifications
Apex heart beat and programming
Generator or something in place to warm and keep water moving.
It didn't wipe out my tank. But opened my eyes. I spend way too much money and spend too much time doing Hai. Protect your investment and tanks we all love?

How did your new mag in QT fare? I'm hoping it's ok. No fish in there to suck up all the Os.

Because of this thread, I tested my vortech battery backup after not touching it for a year, and it wasn't working. The connection between the plug and the brick had worked loose. Now it's working again, but I'm glad I caught it. Thanks!

Update****
Besides the fish lost. Corals recovered. Due to stress on the tank. Did have an ich outbreak.
Valuable lesson learned. Made me appreciate my tank more. Did some much needed changes. Now tank is happy and back on track. With the changes made. Seeing growth from all corals.
