I just bought a mandarin and within the first 20 seconds of it being in my tank it swam right into my carpet anemone I was able to get the fish away from the anemone but now its just floating around the tank looking paralyzed. Its breathing normal it just looks like its in the twilight zone. Will it recover or is pretty much a goner?

What type of "carpet" ?

If it is an S. haddoni, the odds are against it recovering. In fact, I would not try another mandarin if it is an S. haddoni -- just a matter of time before the next one is eaten.

The sting of a carpet is like a burn as far as damage and pain caused. So right now it's badly hurt, but there's a SMALL chance it could recover. I would give it a day. If it's not swimming by tomorrow it may be too much. JMO

It is a S. haddoni. I had heard before that they catch bottom feeders and eat them but my goby has always been ok in the tank with it so I figured I would try a mandarin. I wont be getting another one if it doesnt make it
