I am returning to the hobby after a long time living on Guam, where the ocean and incredible reef are everywhere. Anyway, I've got a Zoa that has what seems to be one small quick moving bug living on it. I'm wondering if you could help me ID the critter and tell me if it is good or bad, and if bad, how to remove it. It reminds me of a spider the way it moves, dashing around. It is very small, maybe 2 millimeters long, and is basically clear with 2 white dots, one near the head, and on near the rear.

Is this guy good, or should I remove the piece and give it a bayer dip? I've never done that before.

Thanks, Ron

Thanks, yes, it could be, but I've never seen one move like this.

Thanks, yes, it could be, but I've never seen one move like this.

if it's salt grain sized and racing around it could just be a copepod/amphipod which are not a bad thing.

I've managed to get a pic of it, but I'm not sure how to get it here. It looks like a flea kind of. There are many different copes and amphipods swimming around in this tank.

But I have found something else that is totally weird that I have gotten some video of, again which I don't know how to use here. It is a worm perhaps 2 inches long and two millimeters wide. It was smooth like an earthworm, and is not a spaghetti worm. It showed up out of nowhere and was thrashing and writhing around like mad in the beam of my flashlight. It could be my peppermint shrimp scared it out, or it could be the light.

Eventually it went down into the filter sock.

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks again,
Ron

i'm not an expert as far as the microscopic aquarium inhabitants go but one way of having it looked after for you is to get a wrasse. most of them will work full time for you sniffing these types out.
