I have been using ARM, should I switch??

Up until now, I have been using ARM in my CA Reactor. It's about time to switch, and keep seeing more and more people using larger size media. What are some of the advantages that I would see by switching to say Schuran or Gen-X? Or should I "not fix it if it's not broken" and stay with the ARM?

Thanks for the advice.

I just switched to ARM from some larger media.

Based on my experience, the larger stuff required a lower pH (6.3 or so) to disolve. That used more CO2 and lowered the tank pH more.

Since switching, I've backed off the CO2 and the tank pH is higher.

check the phosphate of your effluent using ARM. I will switch away from ARM when the time comes

Can you explain this more anyone? I wasn't aware my phosphate would rise after using ARM for a certain amount of time.
