I was cleaning tank today and noticed these....not sure how long they have been there, but all of a sudden now both clowns are eating them. Only a few left. This normal for them to do?
Not sure if they have laid eggs before....first I have seen.
So the fish ate all the eggs..they were each taking a pass at them until they were all gone. I don't know how long these were in there, but we had begun looking at them on the side quite a bit. In fact, my daughter (3) would stand next to the tank for minutes just watching. Could us showing the "nest" the new attention have caused them to eat the eggs? I was told I should put a flower pot or something near the place they laid and maybe they will use that next time. Do I lay this on its side? Does the pot type matter?
I don't plan to raise them for I have no idea where to begin. I read on it and it seems complicated.
It's pretty common for clowns to eat their first few batches of eggs. Unless you plan on raising the fry, which you don't seem to want to do, you won't need to add a flower pot. If you do plan to in the future, a clay pot will do.
