i have green algae on my rock

Nope. That's just the outward sign of the chemical process getting under way. You are in the cycle. When it gets too bad, and it will, take a water sample to your local store and get it tested. If your water tests ok at that point, you can get a cleaning crew of snails and such to clean up the mess.

Thanks for the reply--I thought it was the kiss of death. So a clean up crew will take care of it after my tank cycles? I hope so...

Cleanup crews are fun: certain snails take to the rocks, others like the glass. I had 8 inch algae streamers on the sand, but a fighting conch set them free (they clog overflow teeth: beware) and keeps the sand pretty well. Hermits--the scarlets and blues---are the clowns of the reef, and graze the rocks and sand. You'll soon have something to watch besides bubbles.
