I'll give my 2 cents in this guys defense (kind of). I posted some Avalanche tickets here on the forum. I got lots of replies saying "I'll take them", but no one followed through. One guy kept me hanging about payment until the DAY OF the game and then said "Sorry, dude, I can't find anyone to go with me". Well, he should have thought about that before he said he'd buy them. I don't sell anything here anymore, and won't advise it. There are a lot of dreamers in the Reef world, so seller beware. Also, buyer beware, because most have been exposed to this...

Not that I would sell something out from under someone, I still wouldn't do that.

Eventually I will sell here, but just to get out of the hobby. Not that I'm offended by the forum (I enjoy the forum other than running into your occasional scumbag that won't follow through - but hey, that's everywhere), just don't have the time.

It is very frustrating. I have had a couple of situations where a price was agreed upon and then they showed up and offered less than was agreed. I do understand the request to negotiate price, but once that is finalized, there should be no further discussion on price.

On the flip side, I have had many positive experiences with people on the board. Vikebron, Del, Brandon, Joe and the list goes on with positive transactions.

I totally agree about a person keeping their word and honor. Those are two things that are integral to the foundations of a solid club. It would be sad to see Martin and other solid reefers go away because of these issues. I only ask that you still join the forum (although maybe not sell stuff which I can appreicate) as many of you have so much to offer.

Since we are such a large contributor to RC, maybe they could set us up another RMRC_buying_trading_forum. Or can we have another forum embedded inside the RMRC?

Just a thought.

BTW - I have had nothing but good luck buying & selling on this forum. The only time I do not respond to a PM is if the person does not say where they are located. ( see: Specific locations please?!? ) or if they just plain didnt read the thread ( example: WTS: 75 Gal RR tank - and I get the PM: How many gallons? Is it reef ready? )

There is times where I have looked at corals, fish, tanks and equipment, and have thought about buying. I have sent PM's showing my interest. The great thing is that one person, after their main deal fell through contacted me and I got what I wanted. I thank the dealers and sellers that even if the get burned on the first try, the look at the other people!

I think we should have a thread at the top of the forum that lists everyone in Colorado who can't keep a deal or notify a deal has been canceled. Have you ever gone into a retail business where the advertise people's checks who have bounced them. Should do the same method here.

I wouldn't do that I would have something that is located w/ the location and occupation w/ a seller/buyer rating. I know the legacygt.com forums has somethign similar to that and I think we should have that as we sell more stuff then that forum does.

that rating system isn't hard to do at all. my brother's sportscards forum has it (just like ebay) it's awesome. another reason why RC sucks!

I'm sorry so many people feel so down about RC and the buying and selling that happens here on the club board. I have had my own disappointments and miscommunications with others but I take that (or at least used to) as all secondary. The fact of the matter is that RC is FREE! I can only imagine the amount of money I have saved by purchasing new and used equipment, LR, Corals and other livestock through our club board alone! But that was never the point of the club and the forum for me!

I would hate for RC to simply be only a selling and want-to-buy forum, unfortunately, in many ways that is what I have seen our club forum become over the last year or so.

I am not giving excuses for people not holding up their end, or not following through etc...

I just don't think RC needs to go any further than they already have (have you all seen the buyer/seller feedback forums here on RC?). RC is not and should not be held responsible for people's actions or lack there of regarding transactions.

I appreciate and am thankful for RC and our local club forums, through it fellow reefers have helped me out buy purchasing things from me in the past when I had no other way of selling effectively locally. But more importantly it was a place I could connect with and learn from local hobbiests. Things change I guess and some people are here on the boards for different reasons nowadays.

Just want to make it clear that i like RC and started this thread only to vent about some of the people on here, saying one thing and doing another!! I get great advice when needed and think that i can give some as well. Just not sure why the RMRC in gettting picked on!:confiused:

I am soooo sorry guys, I really had no ideal that me moving to Alaska last year or so would have such an impact on the club. I wish there was a way I could make it up to everyone but I don't see that being possible. It looks like I will be out here for a while longer.
