I have a 10 gallon mini reef with just mushroom corals in it and my clownfish and a seahorse waiting for the bigger tank... but then I heard some snapping. From what I understand this could be a mantis or a pistol shrimp. How can I catch it? (never seen it just heard the noise today when I turned the lights out.)

search for traps. There are alot of sources for DIY traps and ones that you can buy. There have been different results for everyone.
I would leave him in the nano, myself. Since your going to move the fish and seahorse anyway. He would be a great addition, I don't think that he would be too much of a menace.
