Will work for fish
Hey guys,

I got a rock shape that I really like and it has some purplish hairy algae and also I have another rock w/ some green hairy algae. I'm striving to keep my tank clean. I have a cleanup crew but wondering if I will need active creatures to graze this stuff off or will careful control of parameters just starve these out where they "Disappear"?

Thanks!

Was thinking trochus or some other grazing snails... please advise :)

In the future please turn down or off your blue/purple light channels as proper color rendition is very important for proper identification..
You might like that purple haze but it makes for a very inferior picture to provide a useful identification as colors are not even close to real..

So its a hair algae.. I can't tell you if its red or purple or green or pink or whatever..
But in reality it doesn't matter as most algae is treated in the same way..

Yes its possible it will starve/die out but I wouldn't count on it and would have manually removed as much as possible from my tank and even spot treated with hydrogen peroxide before putting that into my tank..

And remember.. turn that blue/purple light off in future "identification" pictures..

Thanks, I don't think it's too late for me to take it out, I appreciate the help--definitely can fix up the lighting next time.
