Ebay has whacked the auction, there is no reference to it anymore.

This may be the reason http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/wildlife.html

When I look at My Ebay, our transaction does not show up. But my paypal account shows the payment to you.

What now?

I'm not sure how many of you have seen an nasarius snail eat before but they DO NOT generally eat algea, you have seen there siphons I' sure, well the mouth tube comes from very near the siphon and is about twice to three times as big around and about 2/3rds the length, it cannot eat algea off the glass or rocks, I have seen mine pull at a little bit of hair algea but I believe it was pulling bits of food out, they are obligate carrion eaters.

yeah, they are perfect for a mantis tank! They do wonders in taking care of any "leftovers" fed to Boris. Infact, Boris smashed in a redclaw crab yesterday, he escaped while Boris went to munch on his leg, and the snails hunted him down and sucked out his goey insides through the hole Boris bashed in! It was pretty dramatic really.... he was fighting off around 7-9 snails at once..

The solution I really discovered for my 6g nano cube is one really really big turbo snail. The snail I got is about the size of a silver dollar and he takes excellent care of my G.Platysomas nano cube all by himself, as soon as I get some nassarius snails in there the sand will be well taken care of as well.

nassarius obseleta will eat algae off the glass as well as ditritus in the sand.

I agree. I've watched mine leave "mouth tracks" in the film algae on the glass walls of the tank.

Just a note about the ebay thing. As a seller I'll tell you now ebay doesn't do "random" spot checks. If this guy ticked someone off they probably reported him. Ebay has a "community" Based system meaning if no one turns you in you can sell whatever you want. It appears to me someone turned him in for selling live animals. Though I see it done on ebay all the time. I just had a listing cancelled selling an excercise machine saying the company doesn't allow it. However my auction had ended buyer paid and we finished but just like yours the transaction is NOWHERE to be found on ebay. Ebay has some serious rules but the only way they're enforced is if someone turns that person in. So if that guy made a customer or competition mad they probably turned him in. No big deal to worry about him not going through on the deal though. I wanted to ask you guys. I have a TON of snails in my tank that I collect right by my house from the marsh. Not sure what kind, think they would be good for mantis food or cleaners? There are 100s upon 100s of them. I have about 30 or so in my QT tank right now but haven't put em into my DT.

yea even it 3/4 of them died that is still an amazing deal but i hope i get all healthy specimens to split between all of my tanks

Well I was just thinking I can get these ones from here if they're any good because they're about an inch so probably much bigger than the ones you're getting and I can get them and sell them cheap and its not illegal to get them.... Hmmmm

Just Arrived

Just Arrived

Just received my eBay Snails today! All the way from North Carolina to here in Oregon. Postmark was 01Feb06. They were in a air tight bag with a wet paper towel rather than in water.
90%+ survived, nice size. Great Deal!

Well I found out what my snails are... They are periwinkle snails. Which happen to be destroying the marshes here so they'd love for me to collect some HA!!! They don't stay in water all the time so only problem with them is escape. My friend said it doesn't smell too hot when they wander into power compacts HA!! I have them in my QT and they crawl out and I put them back in but there's no lights for me to worry about. So I guess if they were food it would be great if they didn't have time to escape!

Well so much for my Thursday or Friday Delivery, it's 11 PM and no snails. How is this guy shipping them?
This has been an ordeal, glad they were cheap.

US Priority, mine was postmarked 01Feb06 and received them 03Feb06. Those snails are scooting all over the place!
I also had them shipped to my place of business rather than having them stuck out in the mailbox or left by the front door.

is it illegal to collect these guys locally? there are some areas in my neck of the woods where ive spotted tons of these, or one that look identical
