US Priority, mine was postmarked 01Feb06 and received them 03Feb06. Those snails are scooting all over the place!
I also had them shipped to my place of business rather than having them stuck out in the mailbox or left by the front door.

Well then maybe they will show up this afternoon.

The seller has good feedback, two recent negatives though both are the buyers fault. One left a negative feedback stating the postage was too high even though the seller bought knowing the postage rate and even paying them, then complain about it. The other was someone didn't get as many as ordered and left a negative feedback before contacting and trying to work it out with the seller. Keep us posted.....

I got my ebay snails yesterday, it seems all or most of them lived, my platysoma was going crazy over these things yesterday, very impressed and a great value.

Well the mailman has come and gone, no snails for me.
And because dBay yanked the auction, I cannot even leave bad feedback. Except for here

Finally!

Finally!

OK, the snails have arrived. I followed his instructions, and they all came to life. Not to mention it looks like I got 125 or more. Kinda lost count along the way. Postmark is Feb. 1, so 5 days in transit.
What a pain, but I guess it is eBay's fault for messing with the auction after it was complete. Just need to be aware when buying anything alive on eBay that this sort of thing can happen.

But hey, for $12.75 or ten cents each, I am happy.

I didn't get any instructions.... I just put them in a bowl with water from my tank and whooshed them around and changed the water and whooshed them around again and then drained the bowl and popped them in the tanks.

Glad they arrived alive and well, bet they're glad to get out of that dark box. Definitely a great deal, I saw some online vendors asking $1-2 each for them.

I think I know why he has so many and they are so cheap.
I received mine on Monday, and they have already laid eggs on the glass.

Wish I had a Macro Lens for this thing, but there are dozens of eggs in each one.

Stay tuned, a year from now I may be selling these guys :p

Nassarius artical

You may want to read this article before adding these snails to your tank. Not that there is anything wrong with them but I have purchased these in the past and they are not as good a snail as the true Nassarius albus and Nassarius vibex. As the article states their life expectancy is very short. The eggs laid by mine never lasted long enough to replace the snails that died off.

As Mantis food I suppose if your Mantis will eat them they are a great deal as live food goes.

But if you want a snail that will keep your sand bed and LR clean the Nassarius obseleta (ie) Illynassa obsoleta is worthless. These snails will spend all of their time on your glass (most likely keeping it clean). IMO 100+ snails crawling all over my glass is disgusting. I would leave the glass and rock cleaning too much better looking snails like the Cerith or Astrae or my Mag Float. JMO!

If you have never seen true Nassarius albus or Nassarius vibex then you should buy a few. They are so cool, they spend most of their time hiding in the sand bed, but when you add some food it looks like the raising dead. They will first stick their siphon tube out of the sand then next thing you now they will come out of the sand in search of a meal. Cool Snail!!

By the way I did order some just in hopes that they were Nassarius albus or Nassarius vibex. They were shipped timely and were recieved in healthy condition. But the moment I got them I knew that they were not what I was hopeing they were. But hey! I have wasted a lot more money on worse aquarium things.

I bought mine several months ago, I am not sure what species, but I imagine they are the "cheap" ones. They are sand burrowing, black, and have a trunk or siphon. As far as behavior, they Kick A$$! They hide until you put food in the tank, then all pop up at once, they scour the tank very well for any leftovers, then bury themselves. Occasionally a couple will crawl on the glass, but never in excess (less than 5 or so), and so far I have only had two die...(one a hermit has taken over)...Probably one of the best SW purchases I have made!

BTW, that article just posted i believe refers to my guys as Illyanassa, and they claim that they ignore carrion, BUT in my experience they LOVE EVERYTHING!! Scallops, krill, crayfish carcasses, flake, mysis, and even gulf prawns! AND they are VERY efficient in their devouring of leftovers....

FYI, most of the ones I put into the reef system are dead. The ones that are in the (unheated) holding bucket are still alive. If you want these guys as feeders, best to keep them cool and not put them in a warm tank.

Christyââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s right!

Cheap snails or feeders or very expensive Hermit crab shells. Because when they all die the bottom of your tank will be littered with shells, followed by a hermit crab open house party.

The true winner of this deal is the guy selling them. He probably collects them by the thousands off the coast of NC, has nothing in them except a little time. Charges $12.00 shipping and handling, Priority Box from the USPS are free. If I didnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t live in the middle of an ancient dried out ocean, what heââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s got going on wouldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t be a bad racket.

As feeders I say go for it, if your Mantis will eat them, but using them in a reef tank as maintenance crew is futile. I have had these and the real deal in my tanks at one time or another. The real deal is truly the real deal.

These are not and will soon parish either by a Smasher or in a corner in solitude!
