personally i love my orange one much more then my aussie... i think my orange one is a scolymia vertensis... 40-60?? where ill buy all of them:D

No, clear orange. Did you get my email by the way? Yellowslayer was hoping i would sell it to him for 50. LOL I paid more then 50 straight from the distributor.

does it matter what its "worth"? or if its rare?
Are you only posting this to solicit buyers?

there is a triple polyp solid orange scoly right now at my LFS for 59.99...

If you paid more at a "distibutor" IMO, you paid too much.
IMO, they are not rare. Look at how many got posted in this thread in just a few hours.

i agree... they are in no means rare.

now the aussie multicolor scolys (e.g bleeding apple type) are a bit more rare...

what is rare anyhow?? duncans were unheard of 6 years ago going for 80-100 per polyp... now its like 10 bucks per head and everyone got one=).. only thing that are rare are things that are collected illegally and thats not cool

Crap thread....

Are you here to brag about it and drive up the price in hopes of profiting off it?

i dont know about a crap thread.. kinda harsh for someone asking if he made the right choice on a specific piece... he's not selling it but just asking ... im pretty sure he paid top dollar for it and thats his choice and not ours to judge...

Give the guy a break, he's trying to see if he got a good deal or not. You can expect the same type of thread from me when I pick my aussie stuff up from my local seller this Friday.

Not everyone picks up coral for their own tank. I buy up anyone selling rare stuff cheap so I can trade it with other hobbysts.

It's nice to find out you got a "deal" on something every once in a while in a hobby that costs so much damn money.

IMO, your adding to the problem of high prices then.

If it wasnt a "deal" to you when you bought it, what makes it a deal (to you) after others think it is?

I know I dont spend money unless i have it, and I like what i am spending it on. If I didnt think it was worth it, I wouldnt have bought it..

How can soo many people have such dispensable income that they can buy corals and HOPE others like it enough to warrant the original purchase... I have even seen some people selling things they just bought after they didnt get glowing reviews on the boards... un real...

Believe it or not some people buy stuff for the sheer "rarity" of it. If these people didn't exist Tyree wouldn't be making so much money. Not saying I'm this way, but a good percentage of coral keepers obviously are. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion, if you want the Ultra Quality pieces you pay for for it. If you get a deal, Good for you, lets hear about it.

I made a similar thread on the Zoanthid forum where I got what I though could be Nuclear Green Palys. I bought em b/c I liked them, not b/c what I thought they were. I paid $10 for a 30 poly colony. Turned out they weren't, but big deal I still have em.

People reselling stuff b/c people on a forum think it's not top notch is silly imo, I agree with you there. The comment about peoples' disposable income really has no bearing on the matter either. Just b/c said person may have more money than you or myself to burn on coral doesn't mean he's posting something to make a profit.

I do agree with you that people will pay what it's worth to them. But guess what, the prices are obviously right if Aussie Scolys are selling for $300 a piece for a 3" coral. The hobby is taking off and the wholesalers know it.

Also, like I said before... people buy coral for the sheer purpose of trading it also. I don't do it often, but if I see a deal on something I'll typically take advantage of it for the sheer purpose of hopefully trading it for something else down the road.

FYI my coral guys' Aussie wholesaler increased the price of Ultra Grade scolys 4x from 2 weeks ago when he placed the order. So prepare for those prices to go even higher.

There's one on LA's Divers Den for $150, aquatic collections has a mostly orange for $66, phishy's got a nice one for $100.

"So much money," huh? Next thing you will be telling me is that Tyree is being featured on, "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous"
