I keep reading about ich issues........

I have been thinking about the stories I keep hearing of people who QT thier fish, treat and let the DT lay fallow, only to have ich crop up again.

This might be a dumb noob question, and maybe this has been discussed in another thread and I just haven't come across it yet, but is it possible that they DID eliminate it from their systems, and then just re-introduced it by way of food manufactured with contaminated fish?

i'm sure many people did eliminate ich and introduced it back in by accident later, without realizing the mistake they made.

though, fish food are typically either dried or frozen, under both of which conditions ich cannot survive.

You can not introduce ich into a tank from food unless you are feeding live saltwater fish to your tank. Unfortunately, you will get almost as many theories about how to protect your tank from ich as there are ich paracites in the sea.

The important thing, IMO, is that ich will NOT return in the vast majority of cases when treated properly. There are lots of things in the microscopic world that we don't completely understand and nothing is 100% ; but do the best we can. IE: For some reason, bacteria, even in humans, occasionally doesn't respond to the normal antibiotics; what dog flea killer doesn't leave some fleas? Etc., etc. Ich can be eliminated, and kept away, the vast majority of the time.
