Yesterday I was volunteering at my lfs and while I was there we got a shipment of Evansi Anthias. I normally reaearch everything before I buy but I figured "its just an anthias how hard could they be" well after I got home I decided to research them a little. I found that they are very difficult to keep, they have strange diets and are hard to get to eat. Ive got about 90lbs of live rock in my 75 gallon so it would be next to impossible to get them out if there without destroying my tank. Does anyone have experience with these they can give me any helpful tips and advice? Do yall think I should try to remove or should I do my best to support them.

is it in your 30 gal QT? No experience with that species but if you've got it qt'd, then I'd bring him back.

I found some food that they have been known to eat. I think I have a plan now. I making a mixture of mysis shrimp, LRS "fish frenzy", and arctic pods.
The LRS "fish frenzy" has scallops, shrimp, perch, haddock, mysis, squid, tuna, oysters, krill, oyster eggs, oyster ovarian tissue, garlic extract, and a few fatty acids.
Im thinking this will do the trick I really should have done my homework and yes I know I should have QTd them.

Snorvich, I was wondering if you had a better idea at catching these fish. since you are an expert. I was going to stack some pvc pipe in the corner of the tank and try to herd them into the pipe and scoop the entire pipe into the net and remove them.. removing the rocks and draining the tank is a last resort and I dont want to do that which im sure you could understand.

Collanders work and herd them with a net. Night time also works well when fish are docile. Worst case is draining tank (saving water) until only about 3 inches remains.

I was thinking at night too but they are so tightly packed in the rockwork that it would be hard to do imo. I know that catching clowns at night is a cakewalk but they just hang out in the anemone all night

If u have a fish only set up I'd get a large bucket / garbage can, a 12 pk of stella & pull the rock out while watching a game. I like rearranging the rocks occassionally. Just a thought
